Scariff is a large village in the eastern part of County Clare and first staged meetings on its racecourse in 1864. That first meeting was held on Thursday 19th May 1864, opening with the Visitors Plate which saw Forest Hawk beat Stella. The feature Fox Hunters Stakes over 2 miles was landed by Marlborough owned by Mr Keye. Races continued annually until a final meeting took place on Friday 26th May 1905.
